Summer Bridge Program for Incoming Freshman

Freshman Summer Bridge 2016

Vision
The vision the AMHS Summer Bridge program is designed to help incoming freshmen to math a smooth transition from Middle school to High school.

History
Several students in the class of 2014 came up with an idea of creating a Summer Bridge Program to expose rising Ninth Graders to "life at the Mountain". The program was implemented during the summer of 2014 with approximately 200 students.

The Program
Rising ninth graders attend AMHS for one week in July. The students rotate daily in 60 minute sessions that include Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. These classes are designed to acclimate students to what happens in a typical classroom at Arabia, They also participate in a Study Skills and Time Management session. Students also have the opportunity to tour the school and go on a hike on the Arabia Mountain Park trail. The program is centered around Dr. Seuss', "The Lorax", so that students can experience how the environment can be infused into the curriculum.
